A mantra proudly repeated at Carluccio’s and one we at Grand Central cannot help but agree with. From the unmistakable quality of their estate-pressed olive oil to the crema in their espresso, no stone is left unturned at Carluccio’s and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Whether it’s antipasti and deli salads or superb offerings from the kids menu, we’re sure your authentic Italian experience will leave you wanting to come back again and again.
They have you covered from the moment you sit down, with a varied selection of breads, olives and oils for you to enjoy whilst you decide what to have. We highly recommend the freshly baked Foccacia!
When it comes to a go-to starter, especially if there’s a lot of you, we really can’t see past the Grandioso Board! A divine assortment of meats, breads and all the trimmings featuring the likes of Gran Sasso prosciutto, caponata bruschetta and poponcini peppers with pesto. For a smaller yet equally as delightful dish, we recommend the Crab Macaroni – white crab meat in a rich cheese sauce topped with garlic breadcrumbs!
Carluccio’s main courses are where we really begin to see some Italian flair. Take the Cod in Cartoccio, for example. A sumptuous piece of cod with cherry tomatoes, lemon and pesto cooked together in a paper parcel, served with Sicilian couscous. Although, heading to an Italian restaurant, it’d be rude not to sample some of their pasta, right? For that, we’d go with the Duck Papardelle – slow cooked duck, pork, pancetta & mushroom ragù, topped with garlic breadcrumbs. If a main isn’t enough to fill you up, try a side of Misto di Funghi – sautéed mushrooms with garlic and chilli. Delicious!
Don’t worry about bringing the kids too, Carluccio’s has a menu just for them! Make dinner time a little more playful when they design their own pasta dish or if that doesn’t take their fancy, try the Chicken Milanese – bread crumbed chicken breast with rosemary roasted potatoes and broccoli! For dessert, they can choose from a scoop from their range of ice creams or sorbets!
Finally, to our favourite part, dessert. While cheese and biscuits are available as a play-it-safe option, we prefer the dolce desserts to get our taste buds tingling! For instance, the Chocolate & Rum Fudge Cake served warm with vanilla ice cream. Interested now, aren’t you? It gets better – why not try the Panna Cotta served with a sweet raspberry coulis? Or, to really immerse yourself in Italian culture, indulge in some Gelato! Choose from coffee and hazelnut, bitter chocolate, vanilla strawberry or cherry!
