Guide to Gifting for the Kids

We all know the drill by now: the kids write their wish lists featuring every single toy they’ve spotted this year as well as all the toys their friend received for their birthday last week. The best thing? They won’t be happy until every single item has been bought. Of course, a couple of the requested items will make their way in to your home but we’re sure you’re looking to avoid adding another doll to the family.

That’s why we’ve created this guide, for parents, family, friends and guardians alike – so if you’re stuck for the perfect present for the kids, we have you covered.

Grand Central is the ideal place for toddler toys, clothing and all round ‘keep them occupied’ gifts. For the kids that don’t know when to stop, try keeping them entertained with a Panda Rattle and Balloon Car from Pylones. Or if your little one is struggling to settle down, make brushing their teeth a little more fun with the Crocodile Toothbrush Holder!

For kids clothing that’s a little more luxurious, a trip to The White Company can definitely be recommended. Some of our favourites include the Long Sleeve Tutu Dress in Whisper Pink, Farmyard Adventure Pyjamas for the new-born and for the little man in your life, the Shirt & Dungaree Set – ideal for saving time in the mornings.

Why not allow your little one discover their inner bookworm with a trip to Foyles? Start them off with the ultimate classic The Hungry Caterpillar and bring the book to life with the matching Hungry Caterpillar Toy! Or give them a head start on school with an introduction to Numbers with Bobo & Co. For those that are a little older, get them started on the Judy Moody series with the Twice As Moody paperback, not one but two tales of the hard-to-handle third grader that any parent can see their child in!

Finally, a look at how to keep your little one having hours of fun, leaving you enough ‘me’ time to last for weeks! For the youngest of the bunch, introduce them to My Friend Alice from John Lewis – the toy suitable for age 6 months+ that’ll teach toddlers words with the squeeze of a paw and sing 5 sing-a-long songs that’ll keep them happy for days.

If a young Padawan is part of your clan, you should definitely be taking a look at these Star Wars Microfighters. Let them take to the skies and beyond with Resistance, Wookie and First Order Lego figurines! Collect them all for a truly out of this world experience!

How does mixing board games and whipped cream sound? A little like Pie Face, perhaps? Load up the throwing arm with anything from a wet sponge to whipped cream and see who will face some serious embarrassment!

It’s a given that, as children get older, they get even more difficult to buy for. With social media featuring more and more in young teenagers lives and the need to record everything an absolute must, the Instax Camera can help your loved one get ahead of the photo game. Perfect for selfies, the Instax Camera delivers instant photos and instant fun, wherever they are!

Finally, to what many here at Grand Central are calling the pièce de résistance – the Big Feet Slippers from Tiger. Comfy, warm and a whole lot of fun to look at, these are the perfect present for children of all ages!
